Commitment to Sustainability

Land Stewardship

It is our responsibility to build the quality and abundance of our land, air, water and biodiversity. We take our role as stewards seriously at Aromatic Acres and practice this role with integrity.

“When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.”

Aldo Leopold

Providing for our Local Community

We aim to grow only the freshest, high quality edibles and ornamentals to share with you, our community. From the most unusual heirloom to your everyday comforts we grow something for everyone.

Our Philosophy

Urban

We grow on rented land that was once destined for a subdivision right in the middle of Wauwatosa, WI. Firefly Ridge Community Gardens, located in Underwood Parkway to be exact. Despite the the roaring sounds of the Zoo Interchange the sprawling 11 acres are quite peaceful. We share our space with plenty of wildlife including deer, rabbits, amphibians and plenty of birds including robins, red wing blackbirds and hawks. We have even spotted a confused Sandhill Crane. Lucky for us and our garden community Milwaukee County rents this land to our friends and partners the UW Extension, who rent the land on to us.

Micro

We grow on roughly a quarter acre or 10,000 sq. ft.  Trust us, it's about all the two of us can handle with our full-time day gigs. It's unbelievable just how much you can grow in such a tiny area! Schedule a tour and see for yourself.

High Intensity

To maximize our space and yields on these plots we succession plant, utilize intensive spacing and spend most of the winter working on spreadsheets.
